Except that they're Librarians ...
I think I'll use the rest of the weekend to get the prac prelim stuff out of the way... one down, two to go ? We'll see about starting the other CS subject as well... maybe.
We visited Decay's parentals and Ginger yesterday afternoon ... Ginger's not jumping so much on everyone anymore, which is nice... but she was quite happy to see us, cos the coffee table got a thumping from her tail (:
We've found a game I'll play ... Dungeon Siege has much point-and-click funness for all the family ... However, Ernie's video card isn't good enough for me to play ... some surreptitious switching of video cards with the Dogmatix may have to occur ... that, or I'll keep hijacking the Stirfry Ninja's computer when I'm over there, or Demotivator the Laptop ...

Take the What High School
Stereotype Are You? quiz, by Angel.
And... Friday Five ...
In other news, Lisa *Left-Eye* Lopez has died in a car accident ... ? That would be off the radio ... can't find anything yet... Update 12:55am : go here for some information ... I dunno, it's just strange hearing something and then having trouble looking up info on it immediately...
... And thank <insert deity> for that as well ... in the past, week 7 in any semester of uni hasn't ever been the most pleasant of experiences ... it seems to be the week when mid-semester tests happen, when everything is due at once, and when the whole willpower and determination thing from the start of semester is trying its hardest not to hit rock bottom ... 2 tests, 2 pracs, one assignment and many tufts of hair later, it's Friday, and here's a weekend to savour... by trying to kickstart the willpower and motivation engine ...
While I'm not going to write all that much about Wednesday night here (I'll save it for over there), it was the first time in a fair while that Decay and I had actually gone out anywhere for an extended period of time ... it was a nice change not worrying about work, studying, other assorted life-related issues, and just do the whole going out thing ...
I'll contemplate doing another entry, then perhaps some study...
Last night we went to see Fourplay and george, but this person, beat me to doing the review ... Oh yeah, Danielle Spencer was playing also, but you KNOW I wasn't there to listen to her...
I'll get round to bashing out my thoughts on last night's performances after I get some work out of the way ... short story is that Fourplay absolutely rocked (I've been waiting to see them since um.... a long time? Before I finished high school definitely ...), and george were a good listen also ... Anyway, work beckons, or something. Type when I get bored of work. Give me about 5 minutes or so....
I've been waking up really too early in the morning these days... given that most days I don't need to be anywhere befor 9am (besides Tuesdays), I could really afford to sleep til 7:30am and still have enough time to dawdle my way through a shower *and* get some food into my stomach ... which is pretty useful for keeping me awake during lectures, even though some subjects seem to be beyond salvation through sufficient energy stores .... Anyway, this morning, I was ready to leave the house by 8am, for a 9am prac session ... I went over to Decay's place to pick up the deconstructed scanner to pass on to someone else to play with, and popped in to give Decay a quick hug before leaving in a flash ... I get an SMS during my prac session from Decay, asking if I did actually drop by this morning, or if it was a dream ... poor boy needs less stress!
In other news, the phone we thought was Elspeth, wasn't ... it was a work phone, Nokia 3210, definitely not an Elspeth ... Ahh well ....
And now, it is time to have a nap, or I won't be awake long enough to listen to fourplay or george tonight ....
As far as my university week goes, Mondays don't exist. So, what I was actually doing at uni yesterday? Um... mumble something about having to fix up prac report with lab partner because of some new assessment tasks brought in because someone's realised that as third year engineering students we know nothing ...
Last night was also the first time in about 4 weeks that I'd actually played tennis. This probably made our opposition feel even worse given that I couldn't hit the ball where I really wanted to with any great precision, but they only won 3 games for the whole night ... They're a really nice bunch of people though, 3 of the team are younger than me... it's their first season into senior comp for most of the team so it's a bit difficult to expect anything much ... I mean, we played awfully in our first season in as well, but that was um... 8 seasons ago ...
Today is B's graduation ceremony... yay! She gets to wear the cape and hat thingy! I'm not sure that I could be bothered to even do the whole graduation thing ... it costs money to do the ceremony, it costs money to hire the gown and cap, and it's not the most enthralling thing to watch ...
Tomorrow night we're seeing george and Fourplay at the POW ... should be good... we'll see about doing reviews on Decay's page...
Hmm.... I should scoot to uni ... 8am start ... 10am test ...
Not sure if there was anything particularly easy about this Sunday morning ... couldn't sleep in, so it's up bright and early to see the sun not even bother to shine ... although it really wasn't all that early in the end ...
I'm currently trying to avoid watching Big Brother by typing this up in Decay's computer room ... and I've just found out I'll turn 9000 days old on 18 August 2004 ... Geez. feeling old now ... maybe some randomness might make me feel less old and grey?
In relation to the patent for swinging sideways on a swing (mentioned on /. and also on The Gap Into, go have a look at Patent of the week and see what other thingums the patent office has had to look at ...
Ok, time to finish my cheat sheet... we get to have them typed this time ... good for me, given the state of my handwriting ...
I sliced my finger open a bit while washing a dinner knife ... which reminded my of the user tip of the day in some version of a MS product: Don't Run With Scissors ... no more washing up for me... or only with one hand tied behind my back ...
Ok, brain has gone into kicking and screaming tantrum in the middle of a shopping centre mode ... here's a field guide to a species of xy chromosomsed beings ... perhaps useful for B? Although we might have to go looking for a field guide to English boys or something, so she can be prepared when she gets there (:
The laptop known as Demotivator made a trip to uni today ... not being guaranteed to be able to get to a computer with the appropriate software installed on it, it seemed like a good idea to lug along one for personal usage ... However, this didn't endear laptop and bag to back ... not much fun to carry so much stuff lopsidedly. Hmmm... lack of brain means sentence fragmentation ... Ahh well ... it's probably a deterrent, stop me from needlessly lugging computing power to uni ...
Yesterday was St Patrick's Day a month ago... it passed me by, only stopping to mark itself on a letter to Decay ... which accompanied the Mobile Suit Gundam that arrived in my hands last night through some organisational stuffing about with the Stirfry Ninja's contacts ... Fun for all the family, or something?
I suppose I should get around to attempting that thing known as study ... it's just feeling like one huge struggle ... I try to get things done, and then wonder about the relevance of the work I've done ... it seems the general feeling around with my friends in the same faculty... what on earth are we doing all this seemingly irrelevant work for? Why aren't we being taught the relevant stuff? How come the pracs don't seem to bear much resemblance to the course curriculum? Why do the lecturers blow up at us when we ask questions about how to do something, and they think we should know how already, even though we've never encountered it?
With thanks to Katie for the quiz link ...
You know that six-legged spider I was talking about/to the other week? It's not in the garage anymore... and I have no idea where it's gone. Aaaugh. Tired. Stressed. Feeling rather unbrainworthy. All that and more. Argh, Crap. I don't even have time to cut my nails anymore. One day I'm going to accidentally gouge out chunks of my body because of these nails. At least I can now fold a kawasaki rose ... it's actually a stress relief ...
That would be B... on the news with her flies ... hee hee (: And it's over. Damn ... so short!
Another Monday happens and I'm in the kind of situation I promised myself I'd try not to get into again ... yes kiddies, I'm behind in a couple of subjects, and I'm wanting more and more time to not study ... this doesn't actually work though, because there is a bit to catch up on, and at this stage it's not insurmountable yet ...
Lab partner and I have a design project to get sorted by Wednesday, but I don't actually have the skills to analyse the circuit for the problem yet. It makes me feel really bad that I don't seem to be doing enough of the work when she's asking questions I don't quite understand, and I'm sure I should already know how to do the stuff but I don't. Much of this weekend's book-bashing time has been devoted to figuring out what it is I need to know so I can do the work, but it's time and practice I need ... I also screwed up a programming lab on Friday afternoon, partly cos of the flaky network problems, and partly cos it took me way too long to get the easiest bit working. Very annoyed with self for that one ... it's the kind of thing I should be able to program in my sleep.
Apart from the whole study thing, spending time with Decay this weekend has been a good thing ... there's just something about being with him that makes everything seem possible, and that it's not the end of the world yet ... helping him with doing the dishes, and hanging clothes on the line (all before 12 noon on a Sunday ... !), it's just ordinary life type stuff, but it seems so normal, so right to have someone to do them with ... And yes... he baked cookies too (: They're yummy (:
I'm lost. I don't actually remember creating this particular entry. However, I have a comment linked to it from 2002-04-14 05:06:46, when the original entry is timestamped 2002-04-13 16:51:27 and I'm typing this on 2002-04-14 08:53:somethingorother ...
Somewhere in the last couple of years I've forgotten to learn something, and now I'm finding that it really would've been useful to know this sort of stuff... my brain is feeling rather bewildered at the prospect of having to figure out what it is that I didn't learn, and what I need to get up to speed on to be able to complete the work due ...
I think this is mostly for Em's reading... I'm not so sure about utilising any of these phrases in her next oral exam though ... but it might help the next time there's a French movie on, without the helpful subtitles for the swearing ... perhaps some creative spelling could get her out of trouble?

Hmm...
The instructions on the side of a bowl of instant noodles:
Oh yeah ... Borders and JB Hi-Fi are within seeing distance of each other at Chadstone ... this is a really really evil thing to do ... We have enough trouble leaving Borders empty-handed... for the empty hands to stay empty through a trip to JB Hi-Fi as well is going to have to involve some hiding of wallets and tying of hands ... I better scoot to uni or I won't get a parking spot ... meanwhile, here's some more Engrish for your perusal, courtesy of zannah ...
I'm slowly re-adding links to the side... trying to keep it a bit more relevant this time ? Anyways, back to simulating circuits... I think I'll have the six-legged spider as a sort of pet from a distance... not going anywhere near enough to touch it but I'll say hi to it every morning when I get into the car...
Today was the first day back to uni for me, after mid-semester break ... an uncharacteristically early mid-semester break ... but we'll cope ... no, really ... they've attempted to regulate the parking on the engineering oval again ... but no-one pays atttention to the markings anyway... if they could see them anyways ... I said good morning to the six-legged spider, noting that it had indeed changed positions ... upside down, upside down, just like Blackboard might say ...
In other news, they've found Elspeth! Well, the old Elspeth that I lost before Annette's 21st last year... How freaky is that?! (:
I've just uploaded the majority of the old site to this server ... apologies for the broken links everywhere ... if you find one, tell me where it is and I'll go back to fix it, but I think I've covered most of the big ones ... old stuff can be accessed in the archives bit over ---> there, at this here linky... things like blog ring links and site statistics stuff will have to wait til the next lapse in concentration ...
This post has been brought to you by a major lapse in willpower and concentration ... knock yourselves out ...
and it's only got six legs ... I saw it last night as I was parking the car ... it didn't flinch when I flashed the high beam at it, nor when I started up the car this morning ... Actually. it didn't look like it had changed position from when I saw it last night ...
However, the whole point of this post was to give some proof of the things we do to while away the wee hours of our lives ...
Some answers to the inevitable or otherwise:
Today it's Decay's Birthday ... be nice to him ... he's tired and needs the rest ...
I'm being dutiful sister and driving the stirfry ninja around a bit today... but i should really do something constructive like study...
I did say I was going to explain things, yes? Are things a little clearer now?
Wow! FAO get featured by Nova FM ... but ... influenced by Aqua? Um... Ok ... I must admit I don't hear any of Barbie Girl in their music, but it could just be my ears ...
I'm sitting on a beanbag, basking in the warmth of the gas heater in the loungeroom of Decay's place of residence, while I've been throwing books at my head in an attempt to approximate what might be known as study... Inbetween bouts of book-bashing, I killed off some ant-type things who thought they'd hit pay-dirt in the kitchen... at least they did until I hit them with the old Pea Beau ... what did you expect? I wasn't going to offer them counselling to try to come to a more peaceful solution like they do with hostage or siege situations ... I don't claim to be a crisis counsellor, not even for ants ... or is that especially not for ants... ?
In other news, all will be explained soon... (:<
Hmm... I just changed some colours around here... did you notice? I'm in the middle of doing some fixing up of the old pages to hopefully reduce the number of broken links I know I'll have one the move has been done ...
The mid-semester break is nearly already over ... I think I need more of a holiday ... at least I know I'll have a few more weeks off from Monday night tennis ...
What I've learned this morning? MIPS code is not fun to type out ...
Things may or may not be explained in the coming days? Dreams about bridal stuff are really quite unnerving ... especially when they're about bridal stores and you haven't even been in one of them yet... hmmm... at least the car's back to being relatively happy, after a rather thorough service it's acting all nice again ...
